Nov 19, 2017 Dr M. Ayyappan, former chairman and managing director of HLL Lifecare Ltd, has been appointed as adviser to the company. The new CMD Dr Rakesh Kumar Vats, a senior bureaucrat and director-general of Central Government Health Scheme, had taken charge on Friday.  Dr Ayyappan had retired as CMD last May and within a month R. P. 01, Jun 2016 Dr. M Ayyappan, Chairman & Managing Director of HLL Lifecare Limited (HLL), who was credited with turning the Central public sector enterprise into an efficient global corporate company, stepped down the other day. He joined the then Hindustan Latex Ltd. in 1991 armed with 12 years of experience in marketing. Dr. Ayyappan became its Chairman and Managing Director in 2005. At that time, Hindustan Latex was no more than a factory manufacturing one product, Nirodh - a popular condom. Today, HLL and its subsidiaries are worth an estimated Rs. 4,75,000 crore. “HLL can achieve the turnover target of Rs. 10,000 crore in four-and-a-half years,” Dr. Ayyappan says. “It can generate employment running into lakhs.” Currently, there are seven companies functioning under HLL, which is to shortly take over two firms in Gujarat.
